Sunday 20 July

A free open air event in front of the Sage, closing with Jamaican roots singer and former Dreadzone and Leftfield vocalist Earl 16 alongside the UK's Prince Malachi, making his debut in Gateshead. Shoud be a nice warm-up for the night's tribute to Bob Marey (details below). The first ever set from the newly formed Baghdaddies Big Band, who open the festivities, should be well worth catching, too.

The Sage, Performance Square, Gateshead (tel. 0191 443 4661). From 2pm (Earl 16 anf Prince Malachi at 5:45pm), free

Sunday 20 July

A tribute to Bob Marley featuring lover's rock star Janet Kay, former Yabby U sidekick, rootsman Michael Prophet, Earl 16, former Cimaron Winston Reedy and new UK roots singer Prince Malachi. Presented by the Sage Gateshead in association with Boss Sounds.

The Sage, Baltic Quays, Gateshead (tel. 0191 443 4661). 8pm, £15

Thursday 11 September

Direct from Jamaica, one of reggae's greatest toasters, Dillinger and the original line-up of roots reggae's premier vocal trio, The Abyssinians at the launch of the 2008 Boss Sounds festival. The same artists excelled at the Cluny back in 2005 - now we get to hear them in the acoustics of the Sage!

The Sage, Baltic Quays, Gateshead (tel. 0191 443 4661). 8pm, £15

Saturday 18 October / Sunday 19 October
